What’s on tap this week: skills clinic, registration deadline

Ultimate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Sundays

A couple of chances this week to get on the field and get back into the ultimate swing of things:

  • Monday 6:30 pm Weekly skills clinic at Clergue field (across from main library building). Curtis Collins, 20 year veteran will be there to improve your game.
  • Wednesday 7:00 pm at Bawating is the annual skills clinic for beginners. You don’t have to be registered to attend, so bring a friend. Not a beginner? Everyone will get a chance to play in a pickup game.
  • Sunday 3:00 pm at Bawating come out for a pickup game.

Registration deadline less than one week away

Register for league play by May 23 (this Saturday). You can play competitive (new) on Mondays, recreational on Wednesdays, or both for those who can’t. get. enough. disc. Anyone wanting to register after this date will be put on a waiting list and added to teams if there are spots available.

Also new this year is the option of submitting a team for competitive night. If you are trying to form a team, and need a few more players, add a comment to this post on the web site to let others know.

Help promote Ultimate

The SUPA executive have been busy getting the word out, distributing posters and pamphlets, getting media coverage and posting online. Many of you have invited people you know to give Ultimate a try and that’s great.

Right now, about 40 people are registered, and normally we have 90 or so by the time league starts, so we need a strong push in the final week.

Here are some ways you can help:

  • Invite people to the beginner’s clinic on Wednesday. It’s a great way for people to get familiar with the game and feel comfortable enough to play after learning a few tricks.
  • Post links to on Facebook.
  • Email people you know.

Sports Showcase on Saturday – need volunteers

Sault Ultimate will have a booth at the Sports Showcase this Saturday at the Station Mall. Jen Braun, master organizer needs people to sign up for an hour or two of booth time. If you’ve wanted to get involved, this is an easy, fun job. There will someone with you at the booth to help answer questions. We’ll also have a DVD of the world ultimate championshiops playing to entertain.

Click here to volunteer for booth time.

See you on the field!
